So much of what reaches us runs on fear: fear of missing out, of falling behind, of the people on the other side of whatever line we are drawing this week. Fear gets attention, so fear gets sold. 1 John 4:18 names something stronger. Across the front, No fear in love in large italic, and the whole verse beneath it with perfect love circled in red pen: the love that does the casting out.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:18, World English Bible
The context. John writes that God is love, and that we love because he loved us first (1 John 4:16, 4:19). Right before this verse he says that love, made complete in us, gives us boldness even about the day of judgment. Fear expects punishment. The love of God, which has already dealt with our sin, leaves fear nothing to hold on to. This is not a promise that you will never feel afraid. It is a promise about what wins.
- Statement print on the front in cream ink, one red circle, the whole of 1 John 4:18
- 210 gsm cotton jersey, soft with a clean drape
- Square neckline, fitted cropped body, short sleeves
- Women's sizing S to XL. For a looser crop, size up
- Care: wash cold inside out, tumble dry low or hang dry, don't iron the print
