A diplomatic passport page from the Kingdom of Heaven. Title: AMBASSADOR. On behalf of: Christ. Issuing authority: God. 2 Corinthians 5:20 is the credential text, with ambassadors circled in red and be reconciled to God underlined, and the entry stamps sit below it. The back carries verse 20; here it is with verse 21.
“We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
2 Corinthians 5:20-21, World English Bible
The context. Paul has just written that anyone in Christ is a new creation, and that God, who reconciled us to himself, handed us the ministry of reconciliation. So he calls believers ambassadors: people who carry a message they did not write, on authority that is not their own. Verse 21 explains how that is possible. The one who knew no sin was made sin on our behalf, so that in him we could become the righteousness of God.
