The lie it answers: “Love is a feeling you either have or don’t.”
The context. First Corinthians 13 is the middle of Paul’s answer to a church that valued gifts and ranking over each other (the chapter opens with gifts that count for nothing without love). The first two answers are not feelings: patient and kind are things you do to the person in front of you. The blanks are the only part we wrote; the sentence is the WEB’s, word for word.
