“He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” He said, “Write, for these words of God are faithful and true.””
Revelation 21:5, World English Bible
The lie it answers: “It's too late to start over.” A lot of us carry a year, a habit or a mistake we've decided is permanent. The One on the throne says one thing about it in Revelation: I am making all things new. Not making new things. Making all things new.
The context. Revelation 21:5 is one of the few places in the book where the One seated on the throne speaks in his own voice, and he tells John to write it down, because these words are faithful and true. The verb is present tense: making, not will someday make. It is the whole point of the ending.
