An engraved door standing ajar, light spilling through, across the back, with BEHOLD, I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK. beneath it, KNOCK. in red because they are Jesus' words. The circle Members crest on the chest.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.”
Revelation 3:20, World English Bible
The lie it answers: “You have to find your way in.” Most of us picture faith as a climb: get it together, then knock. Revelation 3:20 flips it. He is already at the door. He is the one knocking. All that's left is to open it and sit down to eat.
The context. These are Jesus' words to the church in Laodicea, a comfortable, lukewarm congregation (3:14-22). The door is the church's own door, and he is on the outside of a people who thought they needed nothing. The promise is a meal: I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.
