Train hard. Your worth was never your body.
GODLINESS HAS VALUE IN ALL THINGS · 1 TIMOTHY 4:8 runs down the outer left leg in small spaced capitals, with a small †CLUB mark at the back waist. Simple, quiet, and one verse worth knowing by heart.
“For bodily exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, having the promise of the life which is now, and of that which is to come.”
1 Timothy 4:8, World English Bible
The lie it answers. Gym culture hands out worth by the rep: the before-and-after photo, the macros, the body as a scoreboard. Paul doesn't sneer at training. He says it has some value. He just won't let it carry your worth. Godliness, a life trained toward God, has value in all things, for this life and the one to come. So lift, run, stretch. You were loved before the first rep.
The context. Paul is writing to Timothy, a young pastor in Ephesus, where some teachers were turning the body into a rulebook: forbidding marriage and banning foods God created to be received with thanksgiving (1 Timothy 4:1-5). Paul tells Timothy to exercise himself toward godliness (4:7), and verse 8 is the comparison: training is worth something; godliness is worth everything, now and later.
