WONDERFULLY MADE in Copperplate capitals on the chest of a women's fleece mock-neck, with PSALM 139:14 stitched beneath it. Quiet from across the room, clear up close.
“I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.”
Psalm 139:14, World English Bible
The lie it answers. Everything online says you are a project that needs fixing, a before photo. David, who had plenty of reasons to feel small, says the opposite out loud and calls it thanks: fearfully and wonderfully made. You do not have to earn the first half of that sentence.
The context. Psalm 139 is David praying to a God who has searched him and knows him (139:1). He rests on the fact that God formed his inmost being and knit him together in his mother's womb (139:13), and his conclusion is praise rather than self-esteem: your works are wonderful, and my soul knows that very well (139:14).
