WHITER / THAN SNOW / PSALM 51:7 stitched across the chest in three lines.
“Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.”
Psalm 51:7, World English Bible
The lie it answers: “Your past defines you.” Your past defines you, says a culture that never forgets a screenshot. Psalm 51 is David's prayer after his worst failure, and it ends up white: “Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.” Grace doesn't pretend the stain wasn't there. It washes it.
The context. Psalm 51's title places it after the prophet Nathan confronted David over Bathsheba and Uriah. Hyssop was the plant used in the cleansing rites of the law. Isaiah 1:18 makes the same promise to a whole nation: “though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”
