A †CLUB mark and PROVERBS 31:21 small at the left hip. The quiet half of the Not Afraid of the Snow Set.
“She is not afraid of the snow for her household; for all her household are clothed with scarlet.”
Proverbs 31:21, World English Bible
The lie it answers: “Be afraid of what's coming.” Winter brings the forecasts and the dread: brace for the worst. The woman of Proverbs 31 looks at the snow and isn't afraid, because her household is already clothed in scarlet: warm, prepared, cared for. Fear says you're on your own. The Word says you're provided for.
The context. In Proverbs 31 the snow is real and so is the work, but the poem's woman has prepared in the light of who God is, so the cold doesn't own her. Scarlet cloth was costly, dyed wool: the household isn't scraping by, it's dressed well.
